Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Customs Entry Writer to join our Charlotte office. This role is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of customs entries for imported goods via air and sea. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, experience in international logistics, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process customs entries for air and ocean import shipments in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Verify documentation including commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and other related documents
  • Classify goods according to the HTSUS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States)
  • Communicate with U.S. Customs and other government agencies (e.g., FDA, USDA, EPA)
  • Coordinate with internal teams, overseas agents, carriers, and clients to ensure smooth clearance and delivery
  • Track shipments and update customers with clearance status and delays
  • Resolve customs clearance issues and follow up on post-entry corrections or audits
  • Maintain and update customer profiles and SOPs in the system
  • Ensure compliance with all CBP regulations and company procedures

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in customs entry writing for air and ocean freight
  • Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, and PGA (Partner Government Agencies) requirements
  • Proficiency in using customs brokerage software (e.g., Descartes, WiseTech, or similar)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Customs Broker License (preferred, but not required)
